Tauplitz is a village in Styria, Austria, at a height of 896 metres above sea level with 1005 inhabitants and an area of 53km2. The Tauplitz area offers beautiful uncommercialised nature with a great number of sporting opportunities in all periods of the year. Its position offers perfect access to many countries and large cities.

Tauplitz is home to the die Tauplitz ski resort with excellent snow conditions, artificial snow as well as a stable and long winter season. It offers 17 ski lifts, 42km of slopes and skiing from altitudes of 896 m up to 1965 m. The resort has modern lifts and a system of artificial snow, well-tended slopes, a ski school as well as developed infrastructure and gastronomy. The resort will please good skiers, beginners, children and freeride enthusiasts. One unique feature is the ski and cottage hamlet of Tauplitzalm at an altitude of 1650 m., with no cars, from where you can get the ski bus or cable car. The centre is included in the Salzburger Super Ski Pass.

Cross country

Tauplitz is a paradise for cross-country skiing, as evidenced by the fact that Olympic representatives of many countries train here. The resort offers 7 km of tended trails in the village and its surroundings, and 19 kilometres of tended trails on the Tauplitzalm plateau. All routes are suitable for classic style and skate skiing.

Summer :


the area of Tauplitz (Altausee) is a well-known summer alpine destination and is part of the Salzkammergut region. The area offers many beautiful views, mountain lakes and waterfalls. There are many hiking trails, nature trails, from easy walks through blooming meadows to challenging mountain hikes to the tops of local hills.


The area offers many paths for road bikes and mountain. The most famous road biking route is the Salzkammergut Cycle Path, 47 km long, extending from Trautenfels Castle in the Enns valley through the beautiful countryside around four lakes, the Ödensee protected area, to Blaa-Alm in Altaussee.

The area has some of the best water in its lakes and rivers. The local residents also have a tradition of fishing and the area is considered to be one of the most beautiful fishing locations in Europe.


The local area has huge resources of salt and minerals. Nearby there are several spa facilities. Bad Miterndorf is only 4 km from Tauplitz and has a water park with mineral and thermal water. Also in nearby Bad Aussee there is a salt thermal spring and spas.

Swimming in lakes and water sports

The area is famous for 76 lakes of various sizes with quality clean water. Most of them offer a wide variety of water sports and attractions


In the area there are many prepared climbing routes, as well as several secured Via Feratta trails. The local hills are made of granite, which offer the best conditions for climbing of all varieties.
